Synopsis
As an orphan, Yun Chao lived by one rule: never get involved in other people’s business.
One day, on her way home, she came across a young man covered in blood. He was barely alive, lying in a pool of blood with no way to tell if he was alive or dead. Yun Chao hesitated for a long time, but in the end she couldn’t bring herself to leave him there, so she took him home.
She put in a tremendous amount of effort to save him, but after he woke up, he spent every day watching her warily with fierce eyes.
To make him stay by her side forever, Yun Chao tried every method she could think of, even going so far as to lock him up.
Then, one day, guards searching for a vicious dog slaughtered the entire village. Only then did Yun Chao realize that she should never bring home a man she found on the roadside. Remembering his cold, sinister expression, she was so frightened that she packed her things and fled in the middle of the night.
As crown prince, Li Jinci was a man of the highest status. He had an exceptionally handsome face, but a wicked temper, like a vicious dog. Children in the capital were so afraid of him that they stopped crying at night.
The greatest humiliation of his life had come at the hands of this girl. She had dared to deceive and insult him, even forcing herself on him. He swore that once he returned to the capital, he would make her taste the humiliation she had made him endure.
Later, in the blood-soaked ruins of the village, Yun Chao vanished without a trace.
After finding a clue to Yun Chao’s whereabouts, Li Jinci rode out in the night.
At the foot of a dilapidated city wall, a magnificently dressed and incomparably handsome man sat high on his horse. He raised the longbow in his hand lazily, a mocking smile curving his lips, and shot an arrow through the eyesore who had been following her step by step.
Anyone who dared seduce his little slave deserved to die.
He leapt off his fine horse and approached one step at a time. Seeing Yun Chao, frail and trembling, curled up in a ball, he shivered with excitement. This time, he would be the master, and she would be the slave.
“Caught you.”
“How should I punish you, Chaochao?”
Content warnings: The male lead has a strange temper and is unpredictable.
There’s more to the slaughter of the village than meets the eye.

Possessive pursuit | The emperor takes his minister’s wife | Forced romance
A pitiable, honest heroine × an upright, proper hero who breaks his vows for love and steals his minister’s wife
Everyone in the capital knew that the eldest daughter-in-law of the Shen family had a lowly background and was unworthy of the remarkably talented eldest Shen son. The only reason they had married was a marriage contract the clan elders had drawn up years ago to repay a debt of gratitude.
Xi Nian paid no attention to the rumors in the capital. She only wanted to make a good life with her husband, so she followed him around every day, cooking for him and keeping him company while he read.
Even though her husband thought her lowborn and dull, never touched her, and treated her like air; even though everyone in the capital mocked her humble status, accused her of usurping another woman’s place, and called her delusional; even though she endured cold stares wherever she went.
Zhao Xuance had heard about the troubles in the Shen family. He had once warned Shen Yunheng to respect his wife and manage his household properly.
But later, when he encountered Madam Shen, he could no longer look away.
The principles he had been raised with stopped him from taking his minister’s wife, so he suffered day after day, watching her give everything to the man she had married.
In the end, his greed grew and his desire became insatiable. He began to covet the wife who had offered her whole heart.
Years later, he would countless times be grateful that Shen Yunheng had mistaken a fish’s eye for a precious pearl, giving him the chance to take advantage.
First-meeting scene:
Zhao Xuance entered the room and saw a woman lying on the bed, her brow slightly furrowed and the corners of her eyes red, her face flushed with desire.
When she saw someone enter, she was so frightened that she burrowed into the arms of the man above her. Her cascading black hair fell over a back as bare as snow, but in an instant her husband covered her up completely.
Zhao Xuance thought: She should be my wife. How can she be lying in someone else’s bed?
Content warning: The heroine is stubborn and rather rigid early on, but she will grow over time.
Note: Both leads have had no other partners. Their romance begins after the heroine divorces her husband.
Theme: Love is sincere and passionate
