Childhood Sweethearts Are Better Than Love at First Sight

Xiamu Yayoi has always thought the greatest advantage of having the tennis prodigy Shiraishi Kuranosuke as her childhood friend is that he's "useful": a punctual alarm clock every morning, homework help whenever she needs it, someone who will always carry her heavy schoolbag, and the perfect cover whenever her mother starts investigating. She takes his constant companionship for granted, never looking too closely at the tenderness and restraint hidden in his gaze.

Until one day, an instinctive brush of fingers and a question asked through tears shatter the balance between them.

"Kuranosuke... do you... maybe..."

"I do. I've liked you for a long time."

Sweetness quietly spreads, and one challenge after another follows. Her strict mother's eyes are everywhere, and close calls at school keep cropping up. They have to act distant in front of others, yet steal little finger touches in hidden corners, brush knees beneath their desks, and pass along the thrill of their feelings through signals only they understand.

This is an "undercover operation" that demands their full commitment. Seigaku's perfectionism goes into planning every "chance" encounter, while the tennis club's incredible agility helps them dodge every suspicious glance. On one side is the feverish excitement of first love; on the other, a youthful promise they have to keep.

When absolute composure meets extreme obliviousness, and a perfect facade teeters on the brink of collapse, their story is only just beginning, sweet and bittersweet.
