But the poor human has too much pride to accept his money, and doesn't believe he's an ATM.

He even tells 21 with great determination, "Just you wait. One day, I'll earn a ton of money and bring it to you so you can eat."

For a while, it's hard to tell which of them is the one who's not human.

Later, 21 notices something even stranger: whenever the poor human talks to him, his ears turn red, and he stammers instead of speaking with his usual easy confidence. Most shocking of all is the kiss that lands on his hair one night.

21 searches his database, but can't find an explanation.

21 falls silent, thinking back over everything that happened. He remembers the half a steamed bun the poor human gave him when they first met, the glances he stole while working, and the way he quietly came closer to him at night.

The next day, he walks up to the poor human and asks seriously, "Brother Jiang, do you like me?"

The bun falls from Jiang Ye's hand. Stammering, he replies, "I, I don't like your mom..."

Words can lie, but a heartbeat can't.

He hears it: Jiang Ye's heart pounding in his chest, loud enough to shake the world.

Then 21 says, "Brother Jiang, your heart is beating so fast."

He thinks for a moment, then asks, "Then can I like you?"

Jiang Ye finds a beautiful fool who is nearly frozen to death beneath a bridge.

The fool says his name is 21, that he's an ATM, and that he's rich enough to take care of him.

Jiang Ye doesn't take him seriously. After years on the streets, he's met all kinds of people: lunatics, fools, and con artists. But this fool is different.

Later, he discovers the fool might really be something out of the ordinary.

The fool is strong enough to carry bags of cement. He's also genuinely rich, and always wants to give Jiang Ye money. After falling asleep at night, he scoots closer to him.

The fool is handsome, too: bright black eyes, long eyelashes that cast a little shadow when he lowers his head, and fair skin. When he smiles, dimples appear at the corners of his mouth, making Jiang Ye want to poke them.

Sometimes, when Jiang Ye stares at him, the fool notices and tilts his head to look back. His expressionless face seems a little blank, and his voice is just as vacant. "What's wrong?"

Jiang Ye says, "Nothing."

But there is something. He's hiding so much: his feelings, his racing heart, and the kisses he quietly leaves on the fool's hair at night.

Until one day, the fool suddenly asks, "Brother Jiang, do you like me?"

Jiang Ye's mind goes blank, and his mouth answers before his brain can catch up. "I don't like your mom..."

He regrets it as soon as the words leave his mouth.

Then he hears, "Then, Brother Jiang, can I like you?"

Jiang Ye gives up resisting completely. "You can." His voice is so hoarse he hardly recognizes it. "You can do anything you want."

Later, Jiang Ye earns his first fortune through livestream sales.

That day, he stands in front of the fool with the money in his hands.

"Eat up."

21 pauses, then says softly, "I don't eat money."

Jiang Ye's hand is still raised, and his ears begin to turn red again.

Then 21 reaches out and takes the hand holding the money.

"I don't eat money," 21 says. "I can eat the food you make."

Jiang Ye freezes, then smiles, his eyes growing a little warm.

So he remembered it all.
