Shen Lanzhu, the sect leader of the greatest immortal sect in the Three Realms, holds his supreme position thanks to an outrageously powerful System. He commands the Four Seas and Eight Desolations, cool and abstinent, and is worshipped by countless cultivators.
Until one day, his golden finger suddenly malfunctioned.
"Ding! The Crowd-Pleasing Mary Sue System has successfully bound itself to you!"
"Mission One: Hold an umbrella in the rain and make at least three cultivators fall for you. Failure will result in a decrease in cultivation."
"Mission Two: Play the qin beneath the moon, display your peerless grace, and capture someone's heart. Failure will result in a decrease in cultivation and chaotic spiritual power."
Shen Lanzhu: "..."
To protect his cultivation and the dignity of his sect, this ruthless immortal sect big shot has no choice but to go through the motions with a sour expression.
He stands in the rain holding an umbrella with a cold face, but the passing cultivators are drawn to him. He plays the qin beneath the moon with a stern expression, and the little fox he adopted listens intently.
That's right, during the first mission, he picked up a soft, fluffy white fox cub!
The fox cub is fluffy, with red at the corners of its eyes, and quite wary, but when it behaves, it's absolutely adorable. Shen Lanzhu, whose heart is usually as hard as iron, softens for once. He raises the cub with care, and the two spend their days and nights together. Before long, he finds himself unable to bear the thought of parting.
One night, he wakes from a nightmare to a cold voice echoing in his ear: "Kill the fox cub, and you can take back the original System and reach the pinnacle again."
That seemingly harmless fox cub is actually the rightful owner of the original System.
After his System was taken, he was trapped in his cub form for a hundred years. He stayed by Shen Lanzhu's side in hiding, pretending to be obedient and well-behaved, all for revenge.
But looking at the little one asleep beside him, Shen Lanzhu ultimately can't bring himself to do it.
So from the very beginning, they were both pretending.
