[Third-person narration]
In March, when grass grew and orioles sang, I crawled out of the earth and saw a tombstone before me. Engraved on it were the words: "The Tomb of My Beloved, Xie Ci."
I couldn't help laughing. Beloved? Whoever put up this stone didn't even know who was buried beneath it.
There wasn't anyone surnamed Xie in there. My name is Ye Lin. I'm a demon-summoning sorcerer who loves stirring up trouble, and the notorious Imperial Preceptor who brought ruin to the Great Li Dynasty.
People in town say the Great Li fell more than two hundred years ago. With nowhere to go and no one I knew, I could only fall back on my old trade and set up a little fortune-telling stall to get by.
On my fifth day of scraping by, a stunningly beautiful, wounded man suddenly collapsed in front of my stall.
I went to help him. The moment I touched him, he called me a demon and told me to get lost.
Hey, I hadn't even accused you of faking an injury yet!
I have a weakness: I can't stand to see a beauty in trouble. A hundred years have passed, and I'm still the same, never learning my lesson.
I didn't just save his life. I also kept him well-fed with rare treasures.
For some reason, though his appearance was different, his every gesture was uncannily like that of the old acquaintance who nailed me into a coffin a hundred years ago.
Even so, I kept him by my side.
He's so beautiful, with a face like carved jade and eyes like peach blossoms.
Everything about him is lovable.
Except for one thing.
In bed, he cried out the name on that tombstone.
He called me Xie Ci.
[Three hundred years apart, and now we meet again. I don't know whether this is fate or a curse.]
Before-meal reminders:
1. No stand-ins, no unrequited first loves. The couple are devoted only to each other, body and soul.
2. Enemies-to-lovers, with a little wall-banging.
3. Another story written to indulge my kinks.
Theme: Cherish the one before you.
