Forced marriage, then love after marriage
A proud, scheming crown prince x a peerless beauty
-
A string of murders takes place in the capital, with numerous officials killed.
The crown prince travels to Cangshan Academy in Jiangnan to seek out the former Grand Tutor. Disguised as a young master from a prestigious family, he falls in love at first sight with Chu Meijun, the tutor’s daughter.
To protect the Grand Tutor’s family, the crown prince brings them to the capital and has them stay at his own residence.
The selection of the crown princess happens to be underway. Many young women from the capital’s noble families take part in the formal selection, but Chu Meijun only tends to the fish and flowers at the crown prince’s residence and has no intention of participating, leaving the proud prince beside himself.
Unable to sit still, the crown prince schemes to break Chu Meijun’s engagement to another man, then arranges for her to come first in the selection and become the crown princess.
-
On their wedding night, Chu Meijun knows she did not win the selection fairly. She wants to make an agreement with the crown prince: once the truth has been uncovered and the court has stabilized, they will divorce.
But the crown prince enters the room, tears up the agreement, and pulls her into his arms, warning her: “You married me. From heaven to earth, you are mine.”
