Failed Courtship: My Aloof, Widowed Sister-in-Law Became Obsessed

Zhao Wanzhuo and her widowed sister-in-law, Yan Wanning, have depended on each other for three years. Just as Yan Wanning is about to remarry, Zhao Wanzhuo gets bound to an evil System that orders her to win over her sister-in-law.

The System tells her that her sister-in-law's new husband is a hypocrite. He will not only seize the Zhao and Yan families' wealth, but also sell Yan Wanning into a brothel, driving one woman to her death and the other to madness.

To save the sister-in-law who has been so kind to her, Zhao Wanzhuo has no choice but to drug her and “seduce” her, forcing her to take responsibility for her and breaking up Yan Wanning's engagement.

Yan Wanning is filled with humiliation and resistance toward this absurd marriage.

Zhao Wanzhuo can't bear to hurt her any further, but the System's missions are impossibly harsh. Every assignment pushes her past the limits of her moral principles.

Once she realizes that the wretched System has been manipulating her, Zhao Wanzhuo is on the verge of a breakdown every day.

Before she can lose her mind, Yan Wanning's mother, missing for years, and Zhao Wanzhuo's sister, who was thought to be dead, suddenly return to their hometown as high-ranking officials, laden with honor.

Together, they force the two women to divorce and drive Zhao Wanzhuo out of town, putting an end to this ill-fated bond.

Later, Yan Wanning follows her mother to the capital and becomes the lofty daughter of the prime minister's household. Everyone assumes their immoral, ill-fated relationship has long since faded into the past.

But for fifteen days every month, behind the vermilion gates of a private residence belonging to the prime minister's household, there is passion and suffocating intimacy no one else knows about.

On the brocade bed, Zhao Wanzhuo's ankles are firmly tied to the bedposts, and her whole body is flushed with a strange blush.

Yan Wanning looks down at her from above. Casting off her usual poised, cool demeanor, she presses Zhao Wanzhuo's palm against her own smooth, flat belly.

“Weren't you in such a hurry to have two children in three years? Why so quiet now?”
