The Fallen Saint Everyone Covets Is Actually an Incarnation of a God

Feiyi is the only believer in a dilapidated temple.

Everyone laughs at him for being foolish. The Moon God he worships fell into ruin long ago, and only one country on the entire continent still has a temple dedicated to him. Feiyi is its only believer.

Yet, in places no one knows about, the king, the prime minister, and the empire's sole holy archmage visit the temple again and again in the dead of night.

Darkness is about to descend. The gods take on human forms and descend into the mortal world to compete for believers.

The Moon God is the youngest and weakest, and has accumulated the fewest believers. The other gods have already agreed to eliminate him first.

They claim that the Moon God is aloof and high-minded, and would never stoop to such things.

The God of War and the others have no interest in joining the campaign against the Moon God, but they're happy to watch the spectacle and tease his one remaining little believer.

After all, the beauty is as pure as cotton, soft and dazzling. Whenever he looks at them with the faintest hint of confusion, his eyes, purer than sapphires, are full of helpless alarm, as if he can't withstand the slightest harm from the outside world.

Several divine incarnations join forces and successfully elevate this little country into the most powerful nation, winning countless believers for their temples.

At the same time, the way they look at the poor little thing begins to change.

They no longer want to share him with anyone. They want him all to themselves.

They want him to cling to them, whimpering.

To look only at them, and belong only to them.

They fall into conflict without a word between them, fighting one another and wishing they could kill each other.

To win the beauty's heart, they compete to become his loyal servants, repenting for their past mistakes.

As if worshipping a god.

The helpless little beauty just props up his chin and smiles at them.

But when the divine war ends and the faith is tallied, the name at the top of the rankings is one they never could have imagined.

It is the Moon God, who has only one believer left.

They turn stiffly toward the boy, still praying devoutly inside the temple.

The boy gives them a faint smile.

So... the Moon God had descended into the mortal world long ago.

It's probably obvious this is a story with a universally beloved protagonist...

No one really gets to have him before the ending...
