Miao Yin was spoiled rotten while growing up in his village. Thanks to his exceptional talent for raising gu, he became the Miao Clan's Holy Son at just sixteen.
By tradition, a Holy Son had to leave the village and gain experience. After the villagers saw him off with great reluctance, he decided to head to the capital. To his surprise, he had barely arrived before a car hit him.
He politely declined a man's offer of help, bought an apartment, and moved in. That very night, he had a bizarre dream.
It turned out this world was the setting of a novel about a pampered fake young master adored by everyone. The fake young master had been spoiled rotten, and even after coming of age, he was pursued by all kinds of outstanding men. With their help, his career flourished, and they showered him with affection.
Miao Yin, meanwhile, was the real young master, the foil to the fake one. His father didn't love him, his mother didn't care for him, and his family simply threw money at him and drove him away.
Startled awake by the absurd dream, he felt his gu insects crawl out of his body. They vibrated in a rapid series, telling him someone upstairs had been murdered. He could also smell the faint scent of blood.
He hastily threw on some clothes and hurried up the stairs, then kicked the door open.
He locked eyes with the killer, who was brutally dismembering someone in the living room. Seeing the body in pieces, he immediately rushed forward and subdued the killer.
He opened his mouth and let a little snake crawl out. The snake poisoned the man into unconsciousness, and only then did Miao Yin call the police.
The police soon arrived at the crime scene and were stunned by the eerie sight.
Blood was streaming across the scene. A boy dressed in Miaojiang attire stood beside the body, with a man of unknown condition lying to his left.
After Miao Yin was taken to the station to give a statement, the head of the criminal investigation team heard about the bizarre case and came to question him in person.
“How did you find the body?”
“Xiao Hong told me.”
Fu Qingxuan asked who Xiao Hong was. Miao Yin sighed helplessly and pointed to the centipede perched on his head like an ornament, its red body so dark it was almost black.
After questioning him, the police confirmed he wasn't a suspect. Knowing how mysterious the Miao people were and how many gu they could command, Fu Qingxuan invited him on behalf of the police to serve as a special consultant.
Miao Yin considered it part of his training and readily agreed.
From corpses bloated in lakes, to dismembered bodies in sewers, to suspicious meat served up on a table...
Miao Yin could always use his gu insects to find the culprit and solve strange cases.
His fame spread far and wide. His handsome face also captivated countless people, who pursued him relentlessly.
From local cases to international ones, even the anti-narcotics division wanted him to help seize contraband and track down drug traffickers.
The media competed to interview him. Enrollment at police academies across the country even rose significantly, as everyone wanted to get close to this rising star in law enforcement.
[Bonus Scene]
“Captain Fu, why do you always look at me like a heartless man?”
Miao Yin scratched his head in confusion. He couldn't remember doing anything to offend him.
Fu Qingxuan looked at him aggrievedly and said reproachfully:
“Do you remember agreeing to marry me twelve years ago?”
A flicker of guilt crossed Miao Yin's eyes. Sorry, he'd agreed to so many people back then that he couldn't remember.
