A short story of just a few tens of thousands of words. No paid chapters. Written for myself. A road-trip story.
Hu Jingzhao, female, 24 years old, monthly salary of 6,000 yuan, terminal brain cancer.
One year left to live, and her medical bills are a bottomless pit.
Hu Jingzhao is done living frugally for her whole life! She takes Jiang Haoyue, a fellow patient she met just two days ago, and escapes the hospital. They head north.
They've seen the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, as well as seagulls and high mountains. Standing in the wind, Jiang Haoyue asks her, "Do you have any regrets?"
Hu Jingzhao says she does.
"That we couldn't stay together forever."
When light, breath, and memory happen to overlap,
the world will quietly open a hidden back door just for you.

Smultronstalle, a wild strawberry place:
A unique Swedish word, literally meaning "a place where wild strawberries grow." It refers to a secret, private place or thing that brings simple yet profound comfort. It might be a clearing in the woods, a melody, an old book, or a habit of spending time alone. It might even be a person. At its heart are its personal meaning, irreplaceability, and freedom from practical purpose. It need not be spectacular or somewhere to check in for a photo. It is sacred to you alone, a spiritual refuge from the noise of the outside world.
Theme: Every life is a light.
