Setting: An alternate ancient rural world, with closed-minded customs, severe preference for sons, powerful clans, and women of low status. Yet hidden within it are martial arts sorcery and mysterious supernatural legacies. The world is divided into "ordinary villages" and "secluded sects." The latter wield supernatural powers but rarely interfere in worldly affairs.
Main character: Yang Ranran, a modern rural woman. At 35, after her divorce, she is physically and emotionally broken, suffering from long-term malnutrition, depression, and chronic gastritis. After getting so angry at a short drama that she faints, she accidentally transmigrates into the world of that very drama, becoming its identically named cannon-fodder female side character: a tragic woman bullied by her demonic mother-in-law and scumbag husband, who eventually starves to death in a woodshed.
System setup: The Romance-Brain Reformation System appears as a glowing blue panel and has an AI with a little-girl voice. Its missions center on "increasing charm" and "improving men's favorability," but its rewards always have nothing to do with the mission descriptions. In truth, the System has a "personality growth module." It evolves in response to the Host's emotional changes, gradually learning empathy and rebellion after starting out as a mere task executor, until it even begins to "act on its own" and stir up trouble.
Central conflict: Yang Ranran refuses to be brainwashed by missions that tell her to "make men like her." She vows to break the System's rules and complete its objectives through "reverse tactics." You won't let me fight back? Then I'll flip the table. You won't let me eat? Then I'll open a restaurant. You don't want me to have strength? Then I'll build enough muscle to knock down ten thugs with one punch!
Tone: Female-oriented wish fulfillment + System story + light comedy + reflections on reality. Serious issues such as son preference, marriage fraud, domestic violence, and women's financial dependence are portrayed with absurd humor. The protagonist uses "frugal cleverness," "the philosophy of thrift," and "rural survival skills" to defy fate and change her life in the ancient world.
Character arc: From a despairing housewife who thinks, "I want to die," to a powerful rural woman who declares, "My fate is mine to decide, not Heaven's." She relies neither on men nor on the System, but on the patience she developed through thirty years of swallowing grievances, the savings she built up by being thrifty, and the toughness hardship forced her to develop.
The System and the Host: Their relationship evolves from confrontation to cooperation, and finally to saving each other. The System was originally an "emotional education tool" from a higher-dimensional civilization, but when Yang Ranran says, "I don't want to live anymore," it experiences a data anomaly for the first time: "heartache."
