A homeless little girl saw people praying for blessings at a temple. She heard them say that praying could get you what you wanted.

She was really about to starve to death. After finding a wallet, she put the coins inside against her chest, knelt down, and prayed to Buddha with all her heart. "Please, I beg you, let someone give me a bite to eat."

Buddha did not answer her. The one who answered was Chi Yu.

Chi Yu gave her food and shelter, and gave her a name.

Yu Lin regarded her as a god, looking up to her and following her like a stray dog who had found its one and only owner.

But Chi Yu only wanted to be a responsible guide.

"You're still young. There are many things you don't understand."

She pushed away Yu Lin's reaching hand, avoided her burning gaze, and built a wall of reason between them.
