Xie Zhiwei wakes up as the granddaughter of an old general who guards the nation. Every day, she climbs onto rooftops and catches shrimp in the river, having the time of her life.

The old general is fed up with her spending every day chasing cats and teasing dogs with no decorum, so one night he bundles her off to the Eastern Palace to learn some manners.

But rules are dead, and people are alive. Xie Zhiwei has no intention of letting rules box her in.

She still spends every day slacking off and waiting for meals, and whenever she gets the chance, she makes a point of devouring the Eastern Palace's precious ingredients.

Life is pretty satisfying.

While the Eastern Palace's advisers discuss the classics and state affairs every day, Xie Zhiwei focuses on perfecting spicy diced chicken and Sichuan boiled pork.

While civil and military officials plan their strategies and schemes, Xie Zhiwei curls up in a corner, munching on spicy chicken feet and duck necks.

Then one day, during a routine meeting at the Eastern Palace, the Crown Prince watches his usually disciplined and decorous advisers follow Xie Zhiwei in tearing open spicy strips, slurping milk tea, and even fighting over a bite to eat.

The Crown Prince looks up at the sky and sighs: The Eastern Palace is doomed!
