Miaomiao

Dual male leads, no CP. Content warnings at the end.

After Ji Miaoran was in a car accident, he forgot almost everything from before he was seventeen. He remembered only one name: Lu Sheng.

The doctor said that a name someone could hold onto so firmly after brain damage must belong to someone very important.

For the next seven years, he kept thinking of that name. Yet he could never remember the person’s face or piece together a single memory connected to it.

Then one day, quite by chance, he realized the name might never have been what he remembered in the first place.

By the time he finally found the answer, he felt like a kite with its string cut.

Neither Lu Sheng nor Lu Shishen, it turned out, was the person who could keep “Miaomiao” tethered.

When the wind died down, they each drifted away on their own.

A few notes:

1. No death or parting forever. A realistic BE.

2. The protagonists do not suffer physically or emotionally. They each live well in their own way.

3. Lu Shishen gets married at the end.

[Disclaimer in advance: The women are not treated as props. There is no emotional cheating during marriage, and the woman knows the truth and is clear-eyed about it.

The protagonists were never in love, never had intimate contact, and never became entangled with each other.

Do not ask for a happy-ending extra. Do not wish the male leads a happy marriage. Do not insult the female supporting character.]

Theme: Not every longing that endures is answered.
