Synopsis
[Blurb] The gifted musician Cen Ji has a painful story from his youth that he cannot bear to mention: his childhood sweetheart took money from the Sheng family, sailed across the sea, and vanished without a trace. Tormented by grief and self-reproach, he could only keep his loneliness to himself, unable to move on.
Newly risen screenwriter Xin Xuezhi has a debt of gratitude she can never forget: at the lowest, most difficult point in her life, Sheng Yi arranged for her mother to go abroad for medical care, helping her escape the rumors and finish her studies. To repay this kindness, she devoted herself to Sheng Hong Media, working herself to the bone, with no time even to think of the first love she'd wronged.
Years later, the two meet again at Sheng Hong Media. Xin Xuezhi pretends they barely know each other, only to hear Cen Ji grind out the question as he corners her: "Have you figured out how you're going to repay what you owe me?"
Xin Xuezhi's heart jolts. She looks up and sees the bone-deep hatred and pain in Cen Ji's eyes.
She was once a ray of light in his dark life, but she abandoned him just as he was about to step into the light.
He turns all his love into hatred, determined to make her pay.
Yet when she turns away in tears, he falls apart.
After all the twists and turns, all he wants is to return to her side.
A male lead who seems dignified and proud but is secretly humble and pitiful, paired with a female lead who seems quiet and calm but is actually flustered and impulsive.
A rekindled romance, the love story of two little bitter melons.

[Blurb]
Blurb One:
Lanyue was an orphan girl the heir of the Dingbei Marquis picked up on the battlefield. Her soul-stirring beauty kept the young master coming back to her day after day.
Though the Marquis's wife made things difficult for her, Lanyue never complained, with the young master's love and protection to comfort her.
Who could have known his affection was so shallow? In the end, he still planned to marry a well-born lady of equal status as his principal wife.
Late one night, the young master held Lanyue close and spoke tenderly: "The future Marchioness is virtuous and kind. If you behave yourself from now on, she may well accept you."
Lanyue smiled and agreed, as obedient and gentle as ever.
But on the day of his wedding, she turned around and set fire to the warm pavilion where she lived.
The young master, still dressed in his wedding robes, searched through the ashes until his hands were raw and bloody, and finally found a charred corpse beyond recognition.
Blurb Two:
Xue Jingyi, heir to the Dingbei Marquis, was dignified and disciplined, a model gentleman personally commended by the emperor.
Yet this very upright young master had fallen for an orphan girl, losing his head over her and insisting on keeping her by his side, regardless of his family's reputation.
The Marchioness beat and berated him, but the young master was adamant and refused to sell off his concubine.
With no other choice, the Marchioness arranged a marriage for her son, hoping his future wife would put the concubine in her place.
But who could have guessed that the concubine would perish in a sea of flames before the young master had even exchanged wedding vows?
From then on, the young master seemed to go mad, calling out the concubine's name in anguished sobs every night.
On the battlefield, Lanyue took one look at the Dingbei Marquis's handsome heir and set her sights on him, volunteering to go undercover by his side to gather intelligence.
Once the crisis in Fengzhou was over, Lanyue tried to leave, but the young master kept intercepting her by chance.
Luckily, the young master was about to marry. Lanyue hardened her heart, set fire to the warm pavilion, and made her escape.
Years later, Lanyue, now a commandery princess and traveling with her young son, attends a banquet and once again encounters Xue Jingyi, now the powerful Dingbei Marquis.
The Marquis, with gray already showing at his temples, asks her through red eyes, "Why were you so cruel as to leave me back then?"
Lanyue adjusts the peony in her hair. "It was only a fleeting affair, my lord. Why take it so seriously?"
Later, Xue Jingyi, now the new emperor, locks Lanyue away in the imperial palace.
The new emperor kneels before the bed and puts shoes on his beloved. "If you dare run away again, I'll break your legs and keep you locked by my side for the rest of your life!"
