In the chaos of the Republican era, on the pretext of China’s gates being breached, onmyoji arrive in China with the army. Claiming to be searching for fugitives, they slaughter indiscriminately, plundering and refining their victims for their own use.
The overwhelming resentment beneath the fires of war awakens a great demon that has slept for a hundred years: Xu Shu, the fire spirit Xuanzhu, born from the ancient Zhulong’s extinction.
Xu Shu establishes the Feiwo Pavilion to help young demons just starting out obtain human identities and preserve the delicate coexistence between humans and demons.
But the despicable onmyoji shatter that balance. Tsuchimikado Chisenta kills Xu Shu’s beloved disciple, then ambushes her while she is divided from her main body, leaving her gravely wounded and on the brink of death.
When she returns, she learns that her enemy is still alive. To seek revenge, and for the sake of all living beings, Xu Shu leads the Feiwo Pavilion into the world for the third time.
Yet she cannot find the enemy’s true hideout!
The two cat demons caught in a formation allow her to see through her enemy’s scheme.
She conceals her true self and travels the world under a new identity.
The Feiwo Pavilion’s first ironclad rule: Do not meddle in human affairs. Let cause and effect unfold on their own. Heaven’s justice is clear, and those who meddle will surely suffer the consequences.
