Introduction: A pampered genius painter x a foul-tempered, wild mechanic. A soul-saving romance that begins with raw chemistry.
Full synopsis: Summer in Wuhe Town was stifling and suffocating, like being trapped in a steamer wrapped in wet cloth.
To escape his dried-up inspiration and the hypocrisy of the city, genius painter Lin Shuo drove his conspicuous white car into this wilderness.
His car broke down on the road, and he met Chen Tie.
Chen Tie was just like his name: hard as a rusted piece of iron.
Bare-chested and covered in grease, he had the fierce look of a wild wolf. A cheap cigarette dangled from his mouth. He lived a rough, quiet life.
Lin Shuo wore a white shirt, as delicate as a piece of porcelain, yet he was inexplicably entranced by this man, who reeked of motor oil and sweat.
Chen Tie thought Lin Shuo was just a spoiled passerby and tried to scare him off:
"There’s no air conditioning or hot water here, and the mosquitoes will eat you alive. If you want to stay, deal with it."
Later, in that leaky repair shop, in this corner of the world forgotten by everyone,
Chen Tie held him tight in his arms, eyes red, willing to give him his very life:
"Lin Shuo, now that you’ve gotten involved with me, don’t think you can walk away clean for the rest of your life."
[Bonus Scene]
Lin Shuo held a paintbrush, his fingertips trembling. "Chen Tie, I can’t paint."
The grease-covered man walked over, took those hands more precious than any work of art, and pressed them against his burning chest.
Chen Tie’s voice was hoarse. "If you can’t paint, then touch me. My body is yours to draw from."
You are my inspiration, and a wildfire capable of consuming the world.
Theme: An exploration of how two broken souls remake and redeem each other through the most primal force of life, amid a harsh and untamed reality.
