Yunxiao was picked up by his master as a child and raised in the mountains. At eighteen, after getting into trouble, he was finally given permission to leave the mountain.
With a long sword in hand, he roamed the world, righting wrongs and vanquishing evil. People gave him the name Demon-Slaying Sword.
Back then, his heart burned with passion and he carried the innocence of a child, believing that love existed in the world and righteousness in all people.
That was until reality taught him a brutal lesson. Only when he watched the person he loved sealed deep underground in cold, lonely darkness did he finally wake up.
Chong Lian was a treasure bestowed upon the demon clan by heaven and earth, born of the frozen wasteland and the supreme Demon Lord of his people.
Unfortunately, a prophecy by human cultivators branded him a disaster destined to bring calamity and war. Cultivators who wanted him dead came one after another, and the demon clan had no choice but to send him into the frozen wasteland, where the place that had given him life and raised him could protect him.
Life in the frozen wasteland was lonely, empty, and cold. Chong Lian thought it would go on that way forever, until a fiery young man fell from the sky and melted the ice that held him captive.
From then on, two hearts adrift like duckweed found a home.
But fate would not let them be. Tragedies erupted across the land, and every clue pointed to the demon clan as the culprit. At last, the enraged human race decided to wage war against the demons, vowing to make them pay in blood.
To protect his people, Chong Lian fought alone and was sealed in the frozen wasteland where they had first met.
From then on, the Demon-Slaying Sword was destroyed, and the fiery smile that went with it was frozen away. A red mark appeared between Yunxiao's brows, and the boy who had once slain monsters and demons quietly fell into demonic corruption.
[Reading Guide]
1. Chong Lian is the pursuer, Yunxiao the pursued. Their mutual love is endgame, with no switching or breaking them up. Both are each other's first love and have no prior relationships. They are about the same size at first, but the size difference grows as they mature.
2. The story includes one male-male supporting couple and one female-female supporting couple, but they won't take up much space.
3. This is a pure wish-fulfillment melodrama. Don't scrutinize the logic too much, but feel free to point out any obvious plot holes, and I'll fix them!
