[The King's Avatar] Knight Complex

The first time Xiao Shiqin lost a championship, he couldn't bear the crushing disappointment. He forced himself back to the dorm, then collapsed into bed and drifted into a hazy sleep beneath the covers.

His consciousness floated in and out. It felt as though he'd been asleep for ages, yet perhaps only a little while had passed, when someone knocked on his dorm room door in an intermittent rhythm.

It was a little creepy in the middle of the night. But Xiao Shiqin's mind was so blank that he felt nothing at all. He only remembered hurrying out of bed to open the door, without even putting on his glasses.

It was Gu Zhenji.

Had his eyesight gotten worse? Why was she so blurry in his vision? Xiao Shiqin also felt a dull ache and pressure in his eyes.

"...Are you all right?" A hand reached over and covered his eyes. It was cool against his skin, and Xiao Shiqin instinctively closed them.

Her palm moved slowly, resting against his forehead with a touch as cool as jade.

He stood there in a daze, eyes closed, listening to her soft breathing nearby.

His cheeks were burning, and so were his ears. Xiao Shiqin belatedly realized he must be blushing.

"Oh my goodness." Gu Zhenji's voice rang out, full of undisguised worry and concern. "Captain, you have a fever."

Oh my goodness. Xiao Shiqin's face flushed scarlet. During those few quiet seconds, he'd thought she was going to kiss him.

But she'd only come to bring him a late-night snack because he hadn't come downstairs. As soon as she arrived, she hurriedly pulled out her phone to call someone to get him medical attention.

It had always been like this. Gu Zhenji cared because she was just so, so kind.

Not because she liked him. Thinking that she did was just wishful thinking on Xiao Shiqin's part.

The blurb is about Xiao Shiqin, but quite a few characters will be involved in the romance. I'm estimating four for now, though I'm not sure if there'll be more, hehe.

Helping Team Thunder win the championship, so apologies to Team Tiny Herb in Season Seven.

Very, very, very, very little competitive gaming content.
