You are a background character. You come back to life and become bound to a System.

Holding the seemingly obedient System in your hands, you think with self-loathing: You're so tired.

You don't want to live another life the way you lived the last one.

And yet, in world after world, you keep encountering a familiar face.

Your friend, rival, teacher...

You grew up together. Your Ulysses...

You watch him approach you each time as if nothing is wrong--

When acting pitiful doesn't work, he tries being forceful. When that doesn't work, he tries...

You smile and record all his different sides, all his little snapshots. You wonder:

You came back to life and became bound to a System that sent you from one world to another. What about him?

Ulysses came for you. You curl your lips into a smile.

Bottom: I don't care if I get hurt anymore. I'll use myself as bait.

Top: Don't leave me, darling ( ). Logging in under a different account.

The top has multiple versions. Both are each other's only partner.

The couple have a somewhat antagonistic dynamic. Their feelings are out of sync for a while, leading to misunderstandings.

They'll fall out with each other and (at the same time) hate each other for a while, but eventually reconcile.

Neither is a perfect character. They have only each other, a perfect match. No breaking them up and no switching their roles.

Even before they realized it, both had already firmly chosen each other.

Written in third person. Most of the small worlds involve faking one's death.

An alternate, fictional setting.

No attacks, arguments, or flame wars.
