Fragile beauty and green snake shou 💓 widowed ghost emperor gong
[Fake-death fiction, obsessive love, confinement scenes, groveling chase, HE]
Three hundred years after transmigrating into the cultivation world, Xie Lanxu was finally about to ascend to immortality.
Everyone was celebrating for him, but only Xie Lanxu knew how hard the journey had been.
No golden finger, no System, and the body he had transmigrated into wasn't even human. It was a green snake demon hiding among mortals.
On the day of his ascension, the venue was packed with friends and family. They said that the wandering cultivator Xie Lanxu was exceptionally gifted and supremely powerful, and that he was certain to ascend to the heavens.
Then the eighty-one merciless bolts of heavenly lightning struck. The wandering cultivator's spiritual platform shattered, and his soul dispersed.
*
On the day his ascension failed, Xie Lanxu didn't die.
Not only was he alive and well, he had also arrived at the unreachable Ninth Heaven.
Of course, someone had brought him back to life.
His rescuer was the Ziwei Emperor, a powerful immortal even the Heavenly Emperor treated with deference in all matters.
Xie Lanxu: "Why did you save me? I don't believe we've met."
Ziwei Emperor: "All you need to know is that you and I are bound by a marriage pact imposed by the Heavenly Dao. If we don't fulfill it, we'll both die, and my existence is entangled with all the affairs of the mortal world. So, Wandering Cultivator, we have to marry."
Xie Lanxu: "..."
Are you kidding me? How could two men fall in love under the very eyes of the Heavenly Dao?
Terrified, Xie Lanxu ran away that very night.
But before long, the Emperor caught him and dragged him back.
After failing to escape again and again, Xie Lanxu eventually ran out of energy and gave up.
Then, just before the wedding, Xie Lanxu discovered a secret chamber in the Emperor's bedchamber.
The walls were covered in three thousand divine golden characters he couldn't read. The chamber was decorated like an ornate cage. It was a prison formation.
An image projected from the Stone of Three Lives on the desk showed the names "Xie Lanxu" and "Ziwei." The first three characters were ugly and wildly scrawled, much like his own handwriting. The last two were sharp and elegant, just like the person who had written them: the Emperor.
When he turned around, he saw the Ziwei Emperor's calm, beautiful face. But the emotion in his eyes looked ready to devour Xie Lanxu whole.
Xie Lanxu's heart sank to the bottom, as if he were dead.
That day, after holding the trembling Xie Lanxu and cleaning him up, the Emperor said, "Xie Lanxu, you were the one who pursued me first. This is a debt you owe. You have to repay it."
Only later did Xie Lanxu learn that he had once lost a stretch of his memory.
The one who had forcibly carved their names onto the Stone of Three Lives was none other than himself.
But the debt was too great... He couldn't repay it.
What came after was Xie Lanxu leaping into the River of the Underworld, scattering his seven souls and six spirits.
The world lost an imprisoned imperial consort, but gained a carefree wanderer among mortals.
[Reader's Guide]
1. A frail green snake shou who's either running away or planning an escape route x a widowed Emperor gong, a powerful figure who goes mad with love and willingly descends into the mortal world.
2. Fake-death fiction, ridiculously over-the-top melodrama, lots of angst, but also lots of sweetness (please don't come after me). A guaranteed HE. This is the author's personal indulgence, and may not suit readers with strong gong- or shou-favoring preferences. If it bothers you, please stop reading.
3. Includes confinement scenes and obsessive love (?). Every pot has its matching lid, and the two leads are bound together for good.
4. The shou fakes his death from the start.
5. The cover character is a template. Thanks to the artist, Mingyun Yuan.
Theme: May I find one devoted soul, and stay together with them until our hair turns white
