On the day he oversaw the completion of the magical revolution, when the God of Light and the God of Darkness met for the first time and signed the Convention on Friendly Development of the Continent of Hope, Locke had to choose between a divine rank and retirement. He chose the latter.
As he wished, the System sent him to a low-magic world that was "absolutely peaceful and friendly to the gods." In theory, it was perfect for growing flowers, drinking tea, and occasionally showing off his power, allowing Locke to enjoy the retirement of his dreams.
However, a "small problem" occurred during the transfer.
The "Abyss" had "seen" him.
A corner of the world's laws crumbled.
And so, the world the System sent him to was one where spiritual qi revival was underway, the supernatural had descended, and evil gods were everywhere.
The humans in this world relied on the occult to save their lives, invited gods to possess them, advanced through sequences, and used sealed artifacts. They had all sorts of ways to fight, but no magic.
And Locke was a mage.
Well, no big problem.
Retirement was still possible.
Mutated after being corrupted? No big problem, just cast a dispel.
A sealed artifact escaped and caused a disturbance? No big problem, an eternal seal will take care of it.
An evil god descended and destroyed a city? No big problem, Locke casually opened a demon-summoning circle.
Only after the incantation died away and the smoke cleared did his old acquaintance Damon, a great demon of the Abyss whom Locke had tricked into working for him for hundreds of years, seize Locke by the wrist and pin him down in the ruins.
The demon's scorching breath made Locke's ear tips burn red. "I helped you finish the divine war and sign the agreement, and then you ran off to this world to retire?"
"Locke," he rasped with a cold laugh. The contract marks between their necks grew hot. "Do you think this counts as 'no big problem'?"
Locke: "..."
Well, it should be no big problem... right?!
