On the first day Wen Yi transfers to the county school, she decides to play the part of a golden phoenix. Then the monthly exam results rain on her carefully woven plumage, and she realizes she's no more than a peacock with a soaked tail. Ji Shiqing watches from the desk behind her and offers her a mint leaf. From that day on, he sees through every disguise she puts on and catches her whenever she falters. Six years later, they meet again. She is a rising star in arts and economics, while he is a newly hired university lecturer. When they run into each other in a school corridor, he looks at the faint ring mark on her ring finger and softly asks, "You don't bite your nails anymore...?"
