For two hundred years, humans and the wolf clan have upheld a treaty: humans will not invade the wolf clan's territory, and the wolf clan will not invade human territory. But any human or wolf who strays into the other side's territory is to be killed without mercy, with no end to the conflict until one side is dead!
For thousands of years, humans have passed down stories about how to capture a wolf. They are loyal and kind, willing to give everything for the one they love. If you lie in the snow and pretend to freeze to death, the wolf clan will come to warm your heart, letting you kill them with ease! After all, the wolf clan loves humans' delicate, refined beauty, and they often raid human lands to take people as their mates.
The story begins in a remote frontier town.
Scene 1: Shouliang stumbles through the snow, his eyes veiled by the blizzard. He can barely see the path or tell which way to go. Then a white wolf king with ice-blue eyes appears in the snow, facing into the biting wind as he watches Shouliang with ghostly eyes.
Scene 2: Shouliang rides on the wolf's back, his arms buried in its long fur. He leans down and wraps himself around the snow wolf to escape the biting wind. A long howl rises from the wolf's chest. The moon emerges over the eastern hills, and howls echo throughout the valley. The full moon illuminates the wolf valley, while the endless, silent snow shines silver beneath it.
Scene 3: Shouliang stands guard by the wooden gate and refuses to move, but then sees Lanti lie down. Lanti stretches out on the ground and licks his paws. Suddenly, three little wolves with gray-white fur and ice-blue eyes emerge from beneath his belly. They walk forward, curious but hesitant, sometimes scratching their own bellies, sometimes nipping at their siblings' damp noses.
Shouliang's eyes sting. He bends down, and the three little wolves are so frightened they hide beneath Lanti's belly again. After a while, they cautiously poke their heads out to look. On closer inspection, Lanti has a pouch beneath his belly, covered in fur of the same color. The three little wolves had been hiding inside it.
Scene 4: Suddenly, the sharp claws gripping Shouliang's shoulder recede like a tide, becoming a pair of fair, slender human fingers. The vicious fangs and breath hovering almost against his nose transform into a pair of deep, cold eyes. A mass of long, slightly curled gray-white hair brushes Shouliang's face, and for an instant he sees the man's stunning beauty. The man turns away, revealing his bare back and a thick mane the same color as his fur.
"Now that you've seen what I look like, you can never leave the wolf clan," the stranger tells Shouliang.
Theme: Nothing matters more than building a good life together.
