When Qin Yuemin was six, she found a boy four years older than her at the vegetable market.
He was stinky and filthy. If her sense of justice hadn't been so strong, she would have thought he was too dirty to take home.
The little boy: Blinks, tears welling up.
Qin Yuemin's mother: Poor thing! Honey, let's take him in!
And just like that, she got an "older brother," one she couldn't stand.
He broke the doll she'd saved up to buy, so she threw away all the instant noodle cards he'd collected.
He led her into the deep end while they were swimming, so she yanked off his swim trunks.
He ate all the strawberries she liked, so she stuffed mustard into his cream-filled biscuits.
Every battle of wits ended with him bawling while Qin Yuemin whistled with her hands in her pockets.
Serves him right. He took over her home and was always making her mad.
Qin Yuemin bullied him without the slightest remorse for over a decade. Then, when she was eighteen, he finally couldn't take it anymore and ran away from home.

They met again two years later. Qin Yuemin had been pranked by a bad friend, her phone was smashed, and she was crouching alone in the rain, on the verge of tears.
"Xiaomin." An umbrella appeared over her head. She followed its edge with her eyes.
Her brother.
Why was he here?
When had he gotten so big?
"I have a spare room. Want to come stay with me?"
"Would that be okay? I'm warning you now, I have no money." She puffed out her cheeks and looked up at him.
The rain was pouring, but through the veil of water she could still meet his dark eyes.
"Of course."
"After all, we used to be family, little sister."
So she was just his little sister.

Qin Yuemin always believed that, until the day she went to her childhood friend's wedding, got thoroughly drunk, and her brother carried her all the way back to his apartment.
He gave her water, changed her clothes, and carried her to bed.
This annoying little stutterer was always so thoughtful.
Half-asleep, Qin Yuemin wrapped her arms around his neck.
Her brother, who always told her not to touch him, leaned down and pinned her between the sheets.
"Brother... what are you doing!"
He raised his head, his gaze heavy. "I've put up with you bullying me for all these years. It's my turn now, isn't it?"
"But we're..."
He lowered his head and kissed her. "Brother and sister? We're not anymore."
"Not since the night you kissed me."
