After losing her job, You Zhen had no choice but to move into a cheap haunted house in the suburbs. But a second before signing the contract, she saw a barrage of comments float past her eyes:
[Classic horror movie cannon fodder, stupidly running straight into a haunted house. No wonder the landlord's going to chop her into pieces.]
You Zhen froze. The murderous landlord in front of her was staring at her ominously.
"Why aren't you signing?"
Whenever she got nervous, she started talking nonsense. "There's still room to lower the rent. I'll think about it after a few more people die."
Now it was the murderous landlord's turn to go, "?"
You Zhen: What am I even saying?
The good news: She didn't have to die just yet.
The bad news: The murderer thought she was one of his kind.
Worse news: When she finally reached her rental after running herself ragged, she felt a chill on her head. The comments said it was because the vengeful spirit who had died horribly was perched on her ceiling fan.
So this world was also a crossover with supernatural horror movies.
You Zhen began to wonder how she'd managed to survive the first twenty-odd years of her life.
She could only make her way carefully through one horror movie set after another, trying not to become cannon fodder for a murderer, a cultist, or a vengeful ghost or evil god. But she found that her reputation was getting stranger and stranger.
And the comments' attitude toward her changed from [I can't stand watching such a stupid piece of cannon fodder] to:
[Could you possibly be the murderer's death knell, the cultists' savior, the ender of evil gods' schemes, the one foretold to overturn the world...?]
You Zhen just wanted to say: Enough! There's no room for this many people here! And I really didn't think that much of it, so please stop making things up!
