“Didn’t you say you were cold-blooded and ruthless, and never missed when you struck?” The System’s electronic voice was ice-cold. “You’ve been bound to me for ages, so why haven’t you taken out a single target?”
“I wasn’t lying.” A really did look like a killer when he kept a straight face. “It was just an accident.”
“Fine. Then explain. Your first target, that tycoon. You even snuck into his house, so why is he completely unharmed?”
“His bedroom was too big. I got lost.” A pressed his lips together.
“...What about the scientist? His lab isn’t exactly huge.”
“I crouched under his experiment table for too long. When I stood up, my vision went black and I fainted.”
“And the superstar? I went to so much trouble to get you those tickets!”
“Security confiscated my weapon because they thought it was a fan sign.” A paused, then asked, “Can you help me get it back? I can’t afford a new one.”
“...”
“What are we supposed to do now?!” the System roared. “You don’t even have a weapon anymore. How can you call yourself an assassin?”
“Why are you panicking?” A’s expression didn’t change. His long, elegant fingers brushed lightly over the corner of his lips. “Without a weapon, I’ll attack their hearts instead. I’ll pretend to get close to them and trick them into falling for me.”
His voice was low and steady. “They all say... love is a blade, and every cut is fatal.”
Perhaps A’s poker face was just that convincing. The System believed him.
·
Then everything suddenly went off the rails.
A started getting kidnapped on a regular basis.
He woke at dawn on a fifty-square-meter bed, with the tycoon beside him chuckling. “...You’re gorgeous. How about taking off one more thing?”
In the afternoon, he was tied up and brought into the lab. The scientist coolly stroked his cheek. “Stay by my side and be good.”
Late at night, he was inexplicably shoved into a van. The superstar gripped his chin. “Weren’t you trying to be a sasaeng fan? Hmm? Your idol kisses you and you still won’t open your mouth?”
·
After finally making his escape, A calmly wiped down his knife.
The System patted him, only to realize that his lips were red and swollen. His gaze seemed less calm than utterly bewildered.
“Where did you get all that romantic experience?” the System couldn’t help asking.
“From a red book. My roommate was dating someone, so I looked things up in it.”
The System finally sensed something was wrong. Its voice trembled. “Your resume says you killed thousands of people. Where did you kill them?”
“On the battlefield,” A said without hesitation. “The really exciting kind.”
After killing them all, you could even have a chicken to eat.
The System: “...”
So your whole resume was made up!!!
