More than anything, Wen Siyan feared becoming like her mother.

The road into exile stretched on for a thousand miles.

She tried to escape, but he caught her in the wilderness. She tried to starve herself, but he pinched her nose and forced rice soup down her throat, sneering, "Want to die? Wait until I'm dead, then you can die."

In the prison cart, she lay helplessly in his arms, grinding her teeth in hatred. "Xiahou Ji, you're shameless."

He lowered his head, his lips brushing her ear. His voice was hoarse. "Yinniang, you're the shameless one. Don't think you can stir my heart and then act as though nothing happened while marrying someone else."
