(Original title: Don't Covet the Sickly Beauty Cannon Fodder)
Shen Baixu is a delicate, sickly beauty with little time left to live.
He wakes up one day to find that he has transmigrated into a book.
The good news: he arrived early in the story.
The bad news: he transmigrated into the role of a villainous cannon fodder.
After he complained that "the miserable life of a cannon fodder is meaningless," Shen Baixu transmigrated into a character who clashes head-on with the antagonist and gets bullied, abused, and made to suffer a cruel, tragic fate.
As luck would have it, the day he arrived was also the day of the clichéd scene where "the cannon fodder breaks the antagonist's leg."
Shen Baixu clutched a baseball bat and covered his mouth as he coughed a few times. "...Let me explain! Actually, I'm... I've transmigrated into a book!!!"
The antagonist: "...Oh. Then I've awakened."
Shen Baixu: "I really did transmigrate into a book!"
The antagonist: "And I really have awakened!"

Shen Baixu's personality changed completely. Even the scummy love interests who used to enjoy humiliating him started coveting the resilient, sickly beauty.
When asked what their relationship was with the beautiful, sickly man, the scummy love interests fought tooth and nail to declare, "I'm his husband! I'm his husband!!"
The real antagonist, the real husband, looked doubtful. "If you're all his husbands, then what does that make me?"

Ji Xinglan was named the most unhinged antagonist in the book, and his ending was utterly tragic.
But under Shen Baixu's care, the antagonist gradually became clingy.
What's more, Ji Xinglan, who was supposed to fight Shen Baixu to the death, would always make room on his own rickety little bed, thoughtfully lay out a soft blanket, and quietly squat beside it.
"Ge, I want to sleep with you too."
Half-asleep, Shen Baixu opened his eyes and patted the spot beside him. "Get up here. You're like a puppy."
Ji Xinglan rubbed against his palm. "Mm, I'm your puppy, Ge. I'll be a good boy. Don't leave me."
