Lin Qingmo lives by the motto, "I'm alive to cause trouble," until he acquires a glowing compass at his antique shop and is transported that very night to a collapsing world of cultivation. The white-robed swordsman who cleaves open a spatial rift to save him looks at him as if he's a fool who went missing years ago.

When Lin Qingmo finally reaches the core of the "World Tree," he understands: he is the "System loophole" being hunted by every world, while Gu Bai is the "exclusive bug" he once wrote into the rules of the world with his own hands, through endless cycles of reincarnation.
Now this bug has a heartbeat and is defying the System's will, using every means at his disposal to protect Lin Qingmo, the virus that should have been deleted.
"So..." Lin Qingmo pokes Gu Bai's tense cheek. "You're actually my... boyfriend program?"
Gu Bai grabs his wrist and pulls him into his arms. "No. I'm your comeuppance."
