The Miaojiang Boy Sets Out for Revenge

The young master of the Qu family finds a child on the road, dressed in an exotic style and covered in silver ornaments.

The child can barely speak Chinese, behaves strangely, and likes to fiddle with poisonous plants and insects.

But the young master of the Qu family defies everyone's objections and takes in the homeless child from a foreign tribe.

He teaches him to read and write and practice proper etiquette, and gives him a Han Chinese name: Qu Xueqing.

Six months later, the child's family comes to find him, and the two have no choice but to part.

Before they separate, the child makes a promise in halting Chinese: they'll meet again in seven years. They hook pinkies to seal the vow.

The Wujia Miao village finally finds its young master, who had gone missing after sneaking out to play.

Built into the mountains, the village lives apart from the rest of the world, and its rules forbid villagers from leaving the mountain before adulthood.

That's why Qu Xueqing made a seven-year pact with the young master of the Qu family.

But he never expected that when he came down from the mountain seven years later, the home he remembered would be nothing but a ruin.

After asking around, he learns that the Qu family has been wiped out.

The eldest son of the Qu family, an official in the capital, was stabbed to death for corruption.

The Qu couple, unable to bear the news, went mad, burned down their home, and went to their deaths with their young son.

They say it was a natural disaster, but Qu Xueqing finds traces of poisonous plants in the Qu family home and concludes that it may all have been the work of people.

Every clue points to the capital.

Qu Xueqing packs his poisonous insects and plants, and sets off for the capital to uncover the truth, kill his enemy, and clear the Qu family's name.

A young man dressed in Miao clothing and wearing silver ornaments has appeared in the capital.

No one knows where he came from or why he stayed.

But everyone says the young man from Miao territory knows how to use gu.

After all, he has bewitched countless nobles in the capital, leaving them dazed and lovesick.

He climbs higher and higher, until he enters the imperial palace. Even the lofty Emperor of Great Yin becomes his submissive servant under the influence of his love gu.

P.S. The shou is Qu Xueqing. He's a young man from Miao territory who really can use gu and poison, so the story contains a little bit of the supernatural.
