The Seventies: Marrying My Ex-Husband's Brother

Blurb:

The day Shen Lei came home after leaving the army, his neighbor and best friend, He Jun, was getting married. The bride, Yao Zhi, was as beautiful as a flower beneath the moon, so lovely that he couldn't take his eyes off her.

For three years, he watched the smile slowly disappear from Yao Zhi's face, watched her gradually wither away.

Finally, after he pulled Yao Zhi out of the river, he said, "Divorce him and marry me."

Yao Zhi looked up, her eyes full of shock. What had he just said?

Later, Yao Zhi married Shen Lei and became neighbors with her ex-husband's family.

Their life together flourished, while the ex-husband's family was in constant turmoil.

He Jun had always thought Shen Lei married Yao Zhi out of kindness, taking her in because she had nowhere else to go.

That is, until one noon, when He Jun went to see Shen Lei and heard him ask in a hoarse voice from outside the window, "Who's better, me or He Jun?"

Yao Zhi replied tearfully, "You. You are."

He Jun didn't leave. He stood outside the window for a very long time.

Inside, Shen Lei glanced at the window and pulled the dazed Yao Zhi back into his arms.
