Su Yanqiu hated her newly accepted disciple.
She loathed his looks and the way he spoke.
She detested hearing him talk about his parents.
The young man was gentle and frail, with an innocent, gullible look about him.
Jiang Yizhou did not know that his father had once been Su Yanqiu's master, or that Su Yanqiu had once loved him. He knew nothing of how that man had punished her with two heavenly tribulations and cast her out of Xuanhong Palace, where she was subjected to every kind of humiliation. After she became an immortal, she wanted revenge, but she could never find him.
It was then that Jiang Yizhou was delivered right to her door.

Jiang Yizhou had often thought his master was a little strange.
Su Yanqiu bore the title of master, but never taught him.
She treated his illnesses, then lashed out at him with cruel words from time to time.
Back then, Jiang Yizhou did not understand. He only sighed that his master was the moon in the heavens, snow on the earth, and his family.
He ought to respect and protect her.
Until later, when he learned the truth of his birth and was once again sent to the demon realm to seek peace.
Amid the mist and rain by the broken bridge, master and disciple met again. The immortal smiled faintly. A dark glimmer flashed in her black eyes, wreathed in an unshakable murderous intent. "You're here? I've been waiting a long time for you this time."
Jiang Yizhou dodged the long sword at his throat and stared without blinking at the people kneeling beside Su Yanqiu.
What sort of random disciples had his master taken in this time?

One late, quiet night, Su Yanqiu was feigning sleep when she sensed someone reaching over and clasping her hand.
"Yanqiu, why did you go to bed so early today?"
The newcomer's tranquil eyes glimmered faintly. He spoke softly as he bent down, resting his forehead against hers. By every appearance, he was a graceful young man.
But... Su Yanqiu's half-open eyes drifted slightly to the right. She glimpsed the newcomer's trembling fingertips and the bloodshot eyes beneath the night sky, and couldn't stop a chuckle from escaping.
If you can't even make the act convincing, what are you doing?

Reader's Guide:
1. An unyielding, rambly disciple who says he doesn't care about his master x a somewhat conflicted disciple who asks himself every day who he is.
2. The plot and romance are split forty-sixty, and the two leads keep switching places.
