Cold on the outside, warm on the inside, black-to-white puppy, Demon Lord bottom

Ying Wang, the Demon Lord, gazes from afar during the great war between the righteous and demonic factions and sees his shixiong, hailed as the Light of the Righteous Path, soar through the air and ascend to immortality.

So he lets a stray flying sword from who knows where pierce his chest.

As his life fades and his cultivation dissipates, he sees all the light between the clouds settle upon his shixiong's shoulders, making him look like a celestial being descended from heaven.

"...Congratulations, Shixiong. Your wish has come true."

His final murmur fades away. At peace, he closes his eyes and draws his last breath.

One day, a voice claiming to be the Heavenly Dao awakens him.

The Heavenly Dao speaks through tears, lamenting to him: ...This world is about to collapse!

The Demon Lord is puzzled. The Demon Lord is confused. The Demon Lord is furious.

What does the destruction of the world have to do with him, the dignified Demon Lord?!

The Heavenly Dao sobs: The one who will destroy the world is your shixiong!

Ying Wang freezes.

Later, by the power of the Heavenly Dao, he returns to his youth.

The Heavenly Dao earnestly reminds him: Now that you've been given another life, you must keep a close eye on your shixiong. Don't let him turn evil and fall into demonic ways, and don't let him think of harming the people again.

Looking at the shixiong standing gracefully at his side, just as in his previous life, punishing evil and upholding justice, gentle as jade, Ying Wang is baffled.

...How is he corrupted?

Then one day, Ying Wang shows an unusual moment of mercy and spares a minor villain they'd captured before he could do anything wrong.

But that night, when no one is around, he sees for the third time the same scene: these evildoers have inexplicably died, their corpses strewn across the wilderness.

His shixiong, so noble and above reproach, stands beside the bodies in pale robes, sleeves fluttering. He calmly wipes the blood from between his fingers.

Once is an accident. Twice is a coincidence.

His shixiong lifts his face, still stained with fresh blood, and looks at him gently, just as he did the first two times. "...He just tried to attack me."

This time, Ying Wang stays where he is.

He sees the bewitching red lotus hidden beneath the half-open collar of his shixiong's robe.

[False noble and above reproach x Truly honorable gentleman]

Yuan Rong x Ying Wang

1. The story is told from the bottom's perspective, and only he is reborn. The top's true nature will be revealed.

2. The top is not a good person.

3. They're head over heels for each other. Both are virgins. Happy ending, very sweet with just a hint of angst.

4. My own take on cultivation fantasy. All the worldbuilding serves the plot.

Theme: Be a decent person
