Zhang Yin (bottom): Believes in fate, inexperienced in the ways of the world, a little Taoist with a pure and sincere heart
Meng Yubai (top): Sanctimonious, a succubus with a calculating, scheming heart
Zhang Yin fell in love with Meng Yubai before he had ever met him.
At first, his life had only one purpose: cultivate the Way and become an immortal. Later, it had only one purpose: to be with Meng Yubai.
But Meng Yubai kept him at arm's length, close enough to see but impossible to grasp.
Like a moth to a flame, Zhang Yin offered himself up as a sacrifice. He even revealed secrets of Heaven to help Meng Yubai defy fate and change his destiny...
The backlash of karma brought on a mysterious illness, robbing him of two of his five senses.
He could no longer smell or taste. Even at the height of passion, he could only stare at the face lost in pleasure because of him. Even as he transcended, he could only bite down hard and endure the torment that burned through him. He could still hear, though, and begged in a choked whimper, "Meng Yubai, call me... call me by my name..."
Later, the temple gates were shut forever. He took off his Taoist robes and cut his long hair. His family was gone, his friends had scattered, and at last his world contained only Meng Yubai. Yet he could no longer see clearly whether his wish had truly come true.

Meng Yubai had only two standards for judging what to do: first, whether he should do it; second, whether there was anything to gain.
He approached Zhang Yin with an ulterior motive, yet flirted with him sincerely.
If it was all an act, why would he wager his own marriage, sacrifice his dignity for Zhang Yin, and even sever ties with his parents to protect him when the truth came out?
But if he was truly in love, why was he utterly ruthless in pursuing his goals, leaving Zhang Yin abandoned by everyone?
Worst of all, he allowed a newcomer into his life.
