Also known as An Introduction to Putting on an Act and My Image and His Mortgage
The three great illusions of Cheng Mo's life:
1. I can get rich.
2. My blind date doesn't want my money.
3. Nobody at this class reunion will realize my suit is rented.
The three great delusions of Lu Feng's life:
1. A rich, beautiful woman will fall for a man with a mortgaged home.
2. Driving for Didi makes me a new star of the "sharing economy."
3. This high-end counterfeit watch can fool my ex-girlfriend.
After a class reunion worthy of the Oscars...
Cheng Mo calls a Didi. His driver is Lu Feng, who just finished bragging, "My driver is waiting downstairs."
Lu Feng orders takeout. His delivery rider is Cheng Mo, who just mocked him and said, "Karma comes fast."
Their eyes meet. Their carefully crafted images shatter.
In Lu Feng's empty mortgaged home, the two men face half a case of expired beer and sign the Mutual Cover-Up Agreement:
1. Keep the other person's secrets to yourself.
2. Cover for each other and keep up the act around everyone else.
3. Strictly business. No feelings.
Later...
Cheng Mo goes on a blind date, and Lu Feng volunteers to come along as his "friend" and ruin it: "He snores like a tractor at night."
Lu Feng meets a client, and Cheng Mo is forced to pose as his "assistant" to help him save face: "Our Mr. Lu turned down an offer from Penguin just yesterday."
[Bonus Scene]
At a room rented by the hour in the middle of the night, the receptionist asks, "Are you two... ?"
They answer in unison: "Coworkers! / Sharing a room!"
Receptionist: "...This is a couples' themed room."
Afterward, Cheng Mo does the math on a calculator: "The room cost 328. You drank three bottles of water, that's 12 yuan. I used two condoms..."
Lu Feng: "You were the one who insisted on trying the second one. It doesn't count!"
