Synopsis
Story Introduction: Lingxi Meets Heng: The Moon Hidden in the Mountains and Rivers
Su Lingxi, heir to the century-old Qingzhitang clinic, appears to be a cool and selfless doctor who heals the sick. In truth, she is a descendant of the ancient Ling Clan, bearing the Lingxi Pearl. The pearl can communicate with the spiritual energy of all things and cure even fatal illnesses, but it has also made her a target for her enemies. Forced to hide her identity, she uses a sandalwood bracelet to suppress the vast spiritual energy within her and quietly practices medicine among the common folk.
Xie Yunheng, the last survivor of a military family from the previous dynasty, moves between the martial world and the imperial court under the guise of a mysterious antique dealer. The dark iron token at his waist conceals the secrets of the Hidden Dragon Pavilion. While investigating the truth behind his family's wrongful extermination, he also searches for ancient spiritual relics scattered among the people, hoping to clear his family's name and protect the realm with their power. His swordsmanship is peerless and his schemes brilliant. Though outwardly cold and distant, he bears a blood feud and steadfastly refuses to kill the innocent.
A strange "frost poison plague" sweeps through a border town. The patients develop patterns like ice crystals on their skin, and no medicine can help them. While tracking down the ancient relic connected to the plague, the Frost Soul Jade, Xie Yunheng arrives at Qingzhitang, only to be struck by the frost poison and suffer a relapse of his old injuries. Su Lingxi is reluctant to reveal her Ling Clan identity, but when she touches Xie Yunheng, she senses in him the aura of a relic with the same origin as the Lingxi Pearl. She also sees that, even in danger, he is still protecting the children caught in the plague. Her compassion gets the better of her.
She uses acupuncture to temporarily suppress his frost poison, but her use of spiritual energy gives away her whereabouts to her enemies. He sees through her secret identity but does not expose her. Instead, he draws on his knowledge of antiquities to propose a partnership: he will help her escape her pursuers, and she will help him find the Frost Soul Jade and solve the mystery of the plague.
Traveling together, they cross a mist-shrouded ancient battlefield, a tomb full of traps, and the deadly whirlpool of court intrigue. Xie Yunheng comes to know Su Lingxi's gentle compassion and fearless determination, and is willing to risk his life to protect her and the Lingxi Pearl. Su Lingxi sees the deep loyalty beneath Xie Yunheng's hard exterior and is willing to use her own blood as a catalyst to heal his old injuries.
The appearance of ancient spiritual relics stirs the greed of martial world factions and schemes in the imperial court, while also revealing the secret guarded by their two families for generations: the Lingxi Pearl and the Frost Soul Jade share the same origin. Their meeting was fated, and their mission is to join forces against the dark powers seeking to seize the relics and overthrow the realm. With healing hearts, they will save lives; with the courage of their swords, they will protect the world, restore peace to the mountains and rivers, and bring the years back to tranquility.
