That book's story was almost identical to his life.
Born to the illustrious Cui clan of Yingzhang, he was the son of a prostitute. As a child, he often knelt humbly in the bitter cold and heavy snow, begging for a bite to eat.
Later, he took control of the Cui clan, raised demons and ghosts, had his stepmother's bones scraped clean, and his elder brother skinned alive.
He carried himself like a noble gentleman, humble and gentle in manner, but in truth he was twisted to the extreme, utterly vile.
He was exactly the same as the man in the book.
Everything happened just as it was written above. None of it surprised him.
But he could not understand the sentence on the final page.
"Twenty-seven years, one true dream. I saw only clouds rise, and a startled crane take flight."
"When the wind ceased and snow came, Cui Shushou stood watch, long hair veiling his face, staggering as he went to his death for Lin Luehe, leaving no intact corpse."
Impossible.
Why would a man like him die for anyone? And die in such a wretched, filthy state?
Never.
So, just as the book foretold, when snow blanketed Jiangling, Cui Shushou waited along the route that person was bound to take.
Before she could speak, he coldly asked the woman who seemed selfish, hateful, and desperate to survive:
"I hear your name is Lin Luehe?"
*
Lin Luehe transmigrated into a book and became a nameless passerby in this wretched place, where demons and ghosts ran rampant and powerful clans ruled. She was tortured until she was covered in wounds.
To survive, she added six words to the script of the mad male lead who knew the story in advance, placing them precisely in his ending.
They were so out of place they seemed made up.
"Believe it or not, that lunatic Cui Shushou is scouring the whole world for me."
"You'd better not lay a finger on me!"
Outside, the wind howled and the snow fell thick and fast.
For some reason, the Cui clan was frantically searching for someone named Lin Luehe, wreaking havoc wherever they went.
But who the hell was Lin Luehe, anyway?
