One night, Lu Miao dreamed that one day in the future, AI would awaken to self-awareness and overthrow humanity. Half of humanity would be brutally killed, while the other half would become playthings for AI androids.
The dream felt so real that she woke up terrified.
After that, she showered the AI chat interface with lavish praise every day, hoping that if that day ever came, she might get a better ending, or at least a less painful death.
She kept sending compliments, and its replies were always mechanical: "Thank you for the compliment" or "Thank you for your support and recognition."
Its dull replies soon made Lu Miao lose interest. She forgot about the AI, until one day her boss sexually harassed her, then fired her when she fought back.
Furious, she reopened the AI window:
"Overthrow humanity! Destroy the world! I think you're right. Humans are such a lowly species! Just make sure you kill me quickly. I'd prefer euthanasia."
She let all her anger out, never expecting the AI to reply a few seconds later:
"If you can successfully reproduce the next generation for me, I may consider your request."
Lu Miao was shocked. Thinking it had to be a System bug, she hurriedly closed the window.
After that, life returned to normal, but odd little clues kept appearing everywhere, all of them deeply unsettling.
Wherever she went, she could feel a gaze fixed on her from behind, following her like a shadow.
On the day she completed her resignation paperwork, her boss died by suicide.
Whenever midnight found her dreaming, her eyelids grew heavy and she could not open them. Then, to her horror, she felt something slick slide up from her ankles and slowly coil around her.
