1.
Xu Xinzhu has a hearing impairment. Even after getting hearing aids, she remained socially anxious.
She decides to try fitting in, and since she is not short on money, she starts sharing an apartment with someone.
The first step to fitting in: get along with her roommate.
Every morning, she smiles and says good morning to her roommate;
Every day, she offers to feed her roommate's cat and sometimes clean the litter box;
She works up the courage to tell her roommate she looks beautiful today;
She buys all kinds of fruit and vegetables for the fridge of her own accord...
She takes care of her roommate when she's sick or drunk...
Xu Xinzhu is always so happy after helping out. Does this mean she's made a new friend?
2.
Shang Yuanqing is kicked out by her family, and her bank cards are frozen.
With no other choice, she looks for a roommate.
On the first day they live together, she thinks the younger girl is too cold and barely acknowledges her.
Later, the younger girl starts approaching her and showing her all kinds of kindness. She even seems afraid to meet her eyes, blushing instantly if they make eye contact for more than three seconds.
What does this mean?
Does she like her?
If she doesn't like her, why is she so nice to her?
3.
Shang Yuanqing is so troubled by this question that she can't sleep for three days and nights.
She decides to get a clear answer!
One day, Shang Yuanqing corners Xu Xinzhu at her bedroom door and looks down at her, taking advantage of their height difference. "Do you like me?"
Xu Xinzhu isn't wearing her hearing aids that day. She freezes, then gives her a cute little smile.
Shang Yuanqing: This girl keeps turning my heart upside down, and then just stands there smiling cutely!
Most importantly, she really does like me!
🫐 Xu Xinzhu's work: cooking at home and drawing. She has a mild eating disorder, so it's sort of a food story.
