Qi Weilan is not a kitten.

But he likes to go wild at night and nap during the day.

But he likes dried fish with rice, and the more he eats, the better it tastes.

But he refuses to be touched, bristling and darting away.

But he likes to lurk like a cat in dark corners, watching the human he likes.

This is what Jiang Huaihan wrote in The Qi Weilan Observation Log: I have good reason to suspect he's a kitten lurking by my side.

He closed the log. His gold-rimmed glasses hid the emotions in his eyes.

A clever human doesn't expose a kitten. He coaxes it, until it falls completely into his trap.

Qi Weilan likes collecting anything connected to Jiang Huaihan. He waits wherever Jiang Huaihan is sure to pass, and follows and watches him from places where he can't be seen... His diary records everything: his fixation, his unrequited love, the one-man show he puts on all by himself.

He knows he shouldn't demand that Jiang Huaihan remember an insignificant memory or accept the abnormal feelings of a madman.

So he hides inside the shell of an "ordinary little brother," pretending to be normal and carefully stealing a beautiful dream from a distance.

But Jiang Huaihan's reactions are strange.

When Jiang Huaihan catches him clumsily peeking, he leans close, tilts his head, and smiles gently.

Qi Weilan: Did you sleep wrong and strain your neck?

Jiang Huaihan: ...

When his secret collection is exposed, Jiang Huaihan gives him his own clothes and promises to take lots of photos just for him.

Qi Weilan: I'll make sure the photos turn out great!

Jiang Huaihan: ...All right.

Whenever he takes one step back, Jiang Huaihan advances ten.

Qi Weilan, who hates physical contact, is coaxed by Jiang Huaihan into letting him pet him from head to toe, left dazed and muddle-headed.

Then his diary is discovered. His unreasonable hatred and shameful love are laid bare before Jiang Huaihan. Qi Weilan knows that his dream must eventually end. He feels regret, but also relief.

He tells himself that being together this long has already been a gift, and he can't keep taking advantage of Jiang Huaihan's gentle, guileless nature to play the deluded madman.

So he leaves without taking anything, afraid of giving himself more to miss, and returns alone to the lightless warehouse. There, his endless longing drags him into the abyss of nightmares.

He misses Jiang Huaihan's wild joy, the little-fish-shaped cake he had prepared for so long, and the confession he had revised over and over.

All he leaves behind is Jiang Huaihan, waiting from night until dawn, sitting motionless on the sofa until he finally admits that he has been abandoned.

In the moments before dawn, Qi Weilan wakes to find himself in a custom-made prison.

It's Jiang Huaihan's arms, familiar and warm, holding him tight and refusing to let go.

Qi Weilan is startled when he sees what Jiang Huaihan looks like: scruffy beard, disheveled hair, red-rimmed eyes.

He looks just like a vengeful ghost come to claim a life.

"Didn't you say you liked me? Why did you leave?"

Luckily, his deskmate takes his advice to heart and never does the opposite of what he says.

Jian Che is pleased. The final step to becoming an upstanding young man is to find a wonderful partner. Once he has a happy relationship, he won't turn into a villain!

After hearing Jian Che's brilliant plan, Su Yuan stays silent and threads his fingers through Jian Che's, lacing their hands together.

"I've been learning everything you told me."

"I'm a good person, with a good temper, and I'm good in bed. Would you consider being my partner?"

!!! That's not the kind of upstanding young man I meant!
