Flynn is a country boy who heads to the city to broaden his horizons on the day he comes of age. By coincidence, Prince Petri of Bu returns victorious, and the roadsides are packed with people. Flynn catches a hurried glimpse of the prince on horseback. The prince is fair-skinned and handsome, and Flynn is instantly smitten, becoming his biggest fan on the spot.

On his way home, Flynn finds a bracelet beside a pond. That night, he dreams that the prince is trapped in a thicket of thorns. His knightly urge to rescue the prince flares up, and he resolves to go save him.

Flynn does everything he can to sneak into the palace and lands a job as the prince's servant. During his time there, Flynn finally earns the prince's trust, but then the prince is called away to war again.

Flynn resolutely slips out of the palace and secretly joins the army.

Petri has met plenty of people who pursued him, but Flynn is the first to be so bold and fearless about getting close to him.
