Hollow Knot

Song Yinzhu had always been unlucky.

His parents died young, his relatives kept their distance, and he grew up alone and helpless until he was eighteen. Then he was married off to a man he'd never met.

Less than three months after the wedding, he was widowed.

With a baby in his belly that hadn't begun to show, he returned to his village.

But then her dead husband came looking for her.

And so, she could never sleep peacefully at night.

Silk threads entwined in a dragon and phoenix, carved colors woven into clouds. A single inch of shared heartstring, a flower of long life lasting a thousand years. - Yu Xin, Poem on a Knotted Silk Pouch

Important notes:

1. Set in an alternate Republican-era China. Older man, one-on-one. At heart, this is a sweet story about falling in love after marriage, though a cannon-fodder character with a one-sided crush on the recipient may appear midway through.

2. There will be a child, but don't worry about how it happens. Things involving supernatural forces are hard to explain.

3. The pursuer may not be sinister, but he really is a male ghost.

All behavior is limited to the novel. Please don't apply it to real life.
