After dying in an accident, A transmigrated into a novel and became a nameless minor character.
The System she was bound to was useless. It ran out of power as soon as it transported her into the story, and before shutting down, it only managed to say: [You need to save the protagonist of this world and change her tragic fate, ]
Before it could finish, the mechanical voice vanished.
Fortunately, the System had given her a general direction.
Following it, A found a little blind girl being bullied by a group of people. The girl was sprawled on the ground, covered in dust.
She was in such a pitiful state. She had to be the protagonist.
So A chased the bullies away, helped the little girl up, dusted her off, and tidied her messy hair.
The little girl had a tragic past and was all alone. Her eyesight was poor, and she had a fierce temper. She resisted A's attempts to get close, like a little hedgehog bristling with spikes.
A patiently smoothed down those prickles, chased away everyone who mistreated the girl, and gave her all the care and attention she could.
The little girl's attitude gradually changed, and she began to awkwardly accept A's presence.
Later, the girl's eyesight slowly improved, and she grew more and more clingy. A felt a great sense of accomplishment, convinced that she was close to completing her mission.
Then one day, the System finished recharging and came back online. Seeing A and the little girl embracing, it let out a shrill cry: What are you doing?! Why are you with the villain?!
Realizing she had saved the wrong person, A decided to make things right and get closer to the real protagonist.
But as soon as she turned around, someone tugged at her sleeve.
The little girl's eyes could now make out a few blurry shapes. Her hands groped around in the air, her face full of panic.
Her long hair fell loose around her slender frame. Her eyes brimmed with tears, making her look so harmless and fragile, as if she might burst into tears at any moment. "Are you leaving me?"
A's heart softened at once. She told the System, "I'm not doing the mission anymore. The protagonist has so many people looking after her, but the villain only has me! She's so pitiful. Can't you see that?"
The System had no choice but to urgently explain just how terrifying the villain was in the novel: vicious and cruel, destined to do countless terrible things.
A glanced at the girl with her vacant eyes, now curled back into A's arms, and argued earnestly, "No way. She's super well-behaved."
The System took one look at the villain and trembled. "Well-behaved? Host, please look closely. The expression on the villain's face is so sinister and terrifying!"
B's life had been bleak and desperate. Meeting A was one of the few lucky things that had ever happened to her.
She had never met anyone as radiant and gentle as A. She loved A. She wanted only A. She wanted A's eyes to be hers alone forever.
For that, she was willing to give up everything.
Premise: Everyone will eventually find the salvation meant for them.
