Zhao Ning travels through three thousand worlds, bound to the most awful System of all: the Villainess Simulator.
At the beginning:
System: "You're the most overconfident, vicious supporting female character imaginable. You steal opportunities, betray your friends, and earn everyone's hatred... then send yourself to your doom with your own hands."
System: "As long as you complete your missions properly, you can have one wish granted."
Later:
In every world, the male lead and even the whole protagonist group go mad after she dies.
The System is utterly baffled. "How could this happen? She did everything exactly as instructed."
World One:
She steals her junior fellow disciple's life-bound sword and sneers at him. "You don't deserve this sword."
Later, he becomes the Sword Venerable and tramples the Three Realms in search of a wisp of her soul. Kneeling where she vanished, he clutches the sword she once touched, his eyes red.
"I was wrong... Come back. I'll give the sword back to you. Please come back, all right?"
World Two:
She strips the young emperor of power and toys with him like a puppet. "Your Majesty, you're nothing but a figurehead."
On the day he takes the throne for himself, the young emperor kneels before her grave, holding the imperial seal. His voice is hoarse, as if he has been crying.
"I'll give you half my empire... Come back and rule beside me. I'll be your puppet. Please?"
World Three:
She is nailed to the Pillar of Divine Punishment, reviled by thousands as a traitor and a sinner who destroyed the statues of the gods.
When the twilight of the gods arrives, the survivors kneel among the ruins and finally understand the truth.
"She destroyed the statues so we wouldn't have to live on our knees anymore..."
But by then, weeds have already grown thick around her grave.
Zhao Ning travels through countless scripts, and every story ends with her going to her death alone, her back turned and her resolve unshaken.
Yet she never understands:
She's clearly playing the vicious villainess, so why does she always turn around to find the protagonist group staring with bloodshot eyes, desperately trying to grab the hem of her cooling clothes?
Why does every dead end she lays for them become... the beloved white moonlight in their hearts, the regret they never dare speak of and will never forget until death?
#She really only came to play the villain #But they all fell for her on their own #Why do they feel more sorry for her the nastier she acts #Who's hurting in this tragic ending aesthetic anyway #Probably me, since I'm the one who dies every time
