Gods and demons lived long lives. He had all the time in the world to wait. But before news of her divorce could reach him, he heard that she was dead.
He was so furious he nearly went mad. He vented his rage by splitting two mountains in the Divine Realm, only to be driven back to the mortal realm.
There, he met someone who looked like her, and became deeply suspicious. Later, he discovered it really was Cui Lanyin, only a little thinner and a little paler.
After cautiously testing the waters, he learned that she no longer loved her former fiance and would not marry him.
Kongsang Yan worked up his courage and volunteered: "I'm better than him in every way. Why not choose me instead?"

Later, Shen Dangyou saw his fiance nestled in the arms of that fox.
Rage and jealousy grew wildly in his heart.
He would have her, no matter the cost.
