For a hundred years, the chimes of the clock tower have drifted across Time Isle. Every year, as cherry blossoms fall, someone claims to have seen the faint gleam of a bronze pocket watch.
The year Lin Wan met Jiang Yu, an old-curio stall by the Bian River held a brass key. One twist opened a crack in time and space. Their reunion fell out of sync across different eras, while the clock tower's gears spun faster and slower, as if waiting for a promise neither had spoken aloud. Years later, their daughter Yingying grew up. On her eighteenth birthday, she accidentally touched the gears inside the tower and tumbled into the morning light of 1928. The pocket watch made by Shen Shi in her arms became her only guide home.
Only when the two matching cherry blossom petals were finally reunited did the secret from a century ago come to light: Shen Shi built the tower not out of obsession, but to help those who came after understand that time is no prison. The love hidden in the gears, the promise carved into a wooden plaque, the cherry blossom petal tucked into a photo album had already transformed "parting" into "inheritance."
Now little Wan runs beneath the cherry trees, holding an adult's hand. She looks up and asks, "Why do the bells sing?" The answer carried on the breeze is as tender as the look Shen Shi gave A Ying a hundred years ago: "Because the blossoms fall in their season, and promises last forever."
Theme: Using a clock tower and cherry blossoms to show that love is not obsession, but a promise passed down through generations.
