Everyone who reads a book falls in love with the protagonist, but Du Jingqi falls in love with the author instead.
The author has thousands upon thousands of readers. He's just one of the insignificant ones.
He wants to know everything about the author. He's become obsessively enamored with them.
He thinks he's sick, a lunatic.
But he can't live without the author.
Heaven gives him this chance.
He actually enters the very book the author wrote, becoming an NPC inside it.
But the author has lost his memory and can't remember the plot.
That doesn't matter. He remembers.
He spent so many late nights studying every one of the author's books.
The author is already part of him, down to his bones.
All he has to do is protect his beloved author in this strange and treacherous world.
The author asks, "Why are you so good to me?"
He stubbornly replies, "Because now, I'm your... only reader."
Bai Zhi is a beloved author adored by everyone. By chance, he enters one of his own novels, but a bug in the world makes him forget the plot.
As he searches for the protagonist and struggles to survive, he happens to meet an NPC.
The NPC not only latches onto him, but also stares at him greedily, like a wolf eyeing its prey.
Bai Zhi avoids him and even kills him, but the NPC doesn't hold a grudge. Instead, he grows even more loyal?!
Bai Zhi cries out to the heavens: "Can someone please save me?"
Wait, this NPC seems to be... my reader?
Bai Zhi wakes from a nap lying in a rundown room and wonders where he is.
Then he sees a man crouching beside the bed.
The man's eyes sparkle. "I've been waiting for you for a long time."
A voice suddenly rings out through the air: "Happy Song Island will suspend operations in fifteen days. All visitors, please take your belongings and leave in time."
A seemingly sunny and cheerful author bottom who's actually gloomy and unhinged.
A seemingly obsessive and carefree reader top who's actually a devoted, lovesick puppy.
