Xing Huai's life changed overnight, all because of her deadbeat gambling-addict dad, who actually brought home a dazzlingly beautiful new stepmother.
This stepmother, named He Ge, was rich, gorgeous, and incredibly controlling.
She forbade street food, checked up on Xing Huai at all hours, and always looked at her with a curiosity that made her heart skip a beat.
Xing Huai couldn't figure out what He Ge was after. Was it her dad's age? The fact that he never showered?
Until that kiss, carrying the scent of smoke, landed on her lips. Until He Ge chuckled softly in her ear:
"You want me to get divorced? Then you'll have to make it up to me yourself."
Only then did Xing Huai finally realize...
She'd had the wrong script from the very beginning in this little "loving mother and filial daughter" act.
