After years of hard work, Shen Weiguang won the Best Newcomer Award. She seemed to have it all, but for years, she'd endured torment at the hands of her stepfather. Just as her acting career was beginning to show a glimmer of hope, she couldn't bear the thought of him destroying it, and began to consider getting rid of him.
Chen Luoyi is a cartoonist, and the person who has protected Shen Weiguang since childhood. He is the only one who has witnessed her struggles and transformation from beginning to end. But his own origins have always been a mystery. It wasn't until adulthood, after her mother's death, that he learned the truth about his past. He came to understand completely how power and desire can corrupt a person, and used that knowledge to warn himself, even reminding Shen Weiguang at a critical moment when she was about to go down the wrong path.
He and Shen Weiguang form a mirror image of tragedy and redemption. Shen Weiguang is hurt by the family she knows, struggling with a lack of material security and love. Chen Luoyi is cursed by the bloodline kept hidden from him, struggling with his identity and his rigid moral code.
Lu Xi is a travel photographer with a gift for capturing extraordinary beauty. He was the first to turn her beauty into a commodity, and the one who led her into a glittering world.
Lu Yanzhou is the ultimate test on Shen Weiguang's climb to the top, representing the final price she must pay. Accepting his terms means breaking completely with her former self and making the final surrender of her soul.
